There was a record turnout for the 28th Belvoir Half Marathon and the 4 1/2 miles Fun Run with 640 finishers for the main event and over 75 in the Fun Run. The weather was good for the run with a slight overcast and a gentle cooling easterly wind. Results at this stage are unconfirmed but a large number of runners achieved Personal Best and a course record was set.
A big thank you to all the runners who took part for making a great atmosphere, especially to the regular supporters - you make all the effort worthwhile. Thank you to all the local volunteers who helped support the event.
The event was organised by Hose Village Hall Management Committee, in order to raise funds to improve the village hall facilities. We hope that it is a friendly event, which first-time runners as well as our many regular visitors will attend.
The results of the Half Marathon are as follows:
- Michael Aldridge (Wootton Road) was the Winner in the excellent time of 1:11:14 as well as the First Senior Man home
- Lucy Gossage(TFN Tri Club) was the First Woman and the First Senior Woman home in a time of 1:23:10 and First Senior Woman
- The First Vet Man in the 40-49 category was Philip Critchlow (Beaumont Running Club) in 1:13:52
- The First Vet Woman in the 40-49 category was Kate Wright (Stratford Athletic Club) in the time of 1:25:18
- the First Vet Man in the 50-59 category was Stephen Davies (Mansfield Harriers) with a time of 1:22:36
- The First Woman in the 50-59 category was Yvonne Parker (Road Runners Club) in 1:40:02
- The First Man in the over 60 category was Dane Atkins (Holme Pierrepont Running Club)
- The First Woman in the over 60 category was Lesley Griffin (Birstall Road Runners) with a time of 1:39:22
- The winning Mens team was Hinckley Running Club consisting of Thomas Shardlow, Chris Jordan, John Padbury and Jason Brotherhood
- The winning Womens team was Holme Pierrepont Running Club, with Christine Heaton, Patti Cranton and Hilary Hare Duke
The results of the 4.5 mile Fun Run are as follows:
- The Winner was Jake Hornby in the time of 29:00 He was also the First Under 16
- The First Under 12 home was William Garnett in the time of 40:03
